She's Got Issues...

But a lack of hit songs isn’t one of them!

On Tuesday night we had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Julia Michaels ahead of her support slot with Niall Horan (the interview will feature in the next issue of GNI). She kindly invited us to come to the gig and see what she had to offer.

As an extremely successful song-writer for other artists such as Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez and Gwen Stefani, she has no shortage of a back catalogue of hits that she could have performed, but instead decided to be true to herself and her sound and performed her own tracks off her latest EP “Nervous System.”

Taking to the stage in a cropped two piece suit with pink bra top looking every inch a popstar, this rising starlet showed no signs of nerves as she bounced round the stage on a high of adrenaline to perform some of her better known tracks to a strong crowd of over 10,000.

Some of the highlights for us were “I Miss you” that she recorded with Clean Bandit and “Heaven” from the latest 50 Shades of Grey film soundtrack. She then broke into a well-rehearsed accoustic mini medley of hits she had wrote for other artists including Justin Biebers “sorry”, Selena Gomez “bad liar” and Hailee Steinfield “Love Myself” before finishing her set with her biggest hit to date “Issues” and had the entire arena singing back to her with their mobile phone lights swaying in the air.

From her performance last night we predict big things for Julia as a recording artist, live performer and rising popstar... keep up the good work gurl!
