“Young Frankenstein” - The Hilarious Musical OPENS IN THE MAC IN 6 DAYS!
One of Belfast’s biggest and best musical societies is back on stage with "Young Frankenstein" as St Agnes’ Choral Society proudly presents the hilarious musical comedy at The MAC, Belfast this April.
From Tuesday 23rd to Saturday 27th April, audiences are invited to immerse themselves in a world of madcap hilarity and unforgettable performances.
Following the resounding success of their 2023 sell-out production of "The Addams Family," which won the prestigious Best Visuals award from All-Ireland Association of Irish Musical Societies, St Agnes’ Choral Society is back to delight audiences with another unforgettable musical theatre experience. "Young Frankenstein" promises to be an uproarious journey filled with laughter, music, and monstrously good fun.
This adaptation of Mel Brooks’ monstrously funny film will leave you in stitches. It’s a tale of a brilliant surgeon, Dr Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced FRONK-ensteen). He arrives in Transylvania Heights to inherit his grandfather Victor’s legacy, and, with the help of a hunchbacked sidekick Igor, a leggy lab assistant Inga, and a troupe of singing and dancing villagers, Frederick tries to resist temptations to enter his Grandfather’s laboratory. Will Frederick continue his grandfather’s dastardly experiments or will he walk away from the monstrous family business? Can he stay faithful to his abstinent fiancée or will he fall in love with his beautiful assistant, Inga? And what on earth is in Igor’s hump? (What hump?!)
“Young Frankenstein” is an electrifying parody of the horror genre, re-imagining the Mary Shelley classic, and based on the Oscar-nominated Mel Brooks 1974 classic film starring Hollywood legend Gene Wilder. With story, music, and lyrics by Mel Brooks himself, co-written with Thomas Meehan.
“Young Frankenstein” is packed full of toe-tapping tunes including Irving Berlin’s “Puttin’ on the Ritz” and much, much more. The show is directed by St Agnes’ Choral Society’s talented production team including Rachel Logan-Fee as Director, Andrew Robinson as Musical Director and Amy Blackshaw as Choreographer. Featuring a cast of vibrant performers including Allen Gordon, Michelle Hannaway, Thomas Martin and Martin McDowell, "Young Frankenstein" promises to captivate audiences of all ages with its blend of wit, charm, and unforgettable music and dance numbers.
